Dear Follower of Jesus, stop dreaming.
Before you go all Journey on me and say, “Don’t stop believin,” hear me out. First off, this is not about not having dreams, goals, and visions. In fact, it is the complete opposite! It is not God’s will for your life that you do not receive vision and revelation from him. My reasoning behind “stop dreaming” is that it is time to work and change course (if needed) to give a place for these God-given dreams to manifest. Stop dreaming about what you are suppose to do, and go do it.
Listen, I have seen many people who never step into the mandate on their life because they believe that God is going to do everything for them without them toiling towards it. I have also see many people who never step into their mandate because they are toiling in their flesh, outside of God’s ordained time, and/or for the wrong reasons. Others just simply give up and quit. These reasons are why we must know the times and the seasons that the Lord has set for us. There is a time to rest, a time to toil, a time to plant, and a time for harvest. “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
The changing of the seasons is exactly why we MUST have prophetic revelation (vision) from the Lord. For many of us, it is time to change course. Either what we were doing was not working or it was the process of the wilderness that he sent us through for our refinement. Being hidden is over. New scrolls, new revelation, and new tools (or actually use the ones you have but haven't touched) are yours. Shifts are happening right now. Either adjust or be held back from the lack of vision and the repeating of the same old plans. Sometimes you do need to "stay the course" to see the fruit of it and sometimes you need to change the course to see the fruit that was held back.
Again, stop dreaming about what you are suppose to do, and GO DO IT. The journey getting there will always look different than the end result. Plus, the end result that you have seen is only part of what it is going to look like. We see in part, hear in part, and know in part (1 Corinthians 13:9). Stop getting caught up because the end result has not manifested yet. Stop getting caught up that your journey looks different than what you expected. Take what God has put in front of you and start toiling. In other words, it is time for you to mature in the Lord and grow up out of these childish ways. “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways” (1 Corinthians 13:11). Stop speaking, thinking, and reasoning in spiritual immaturity.
Two of the most quoted Bible passages about vision are Proverbs 29:18 and Habakkuk chapter 2 that tell us how important it is for the people of God to see his vision for their lives lest they perish. The key phrase here is HIS VISION. Let’s take a look at Proverbs 29:18 and Habakkuk 2:2.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he” (KJV).
“Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law” (ESV).
The word used in Proverbs 29:18 for “vision” is the Hebrew word חָ֭זוֹן (hazown). חָ֭זוֹן is a divine vision or prophetic revelation given my God, not an earthly vision born of the flesh.
The word for “perish” or the phrase “cast off restraint” is the word יִפָּ֣רַֽע. It can also mean “to uncover” as to be naked. In other words, they perish because they have casted off the covering of the revelatory word of God over their lives, the restraint of his word that keeps them on his path. They cast off his word causing their own word of the flesh to govern themselves.
And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it” (ESV).
The word for “vision” is the same word חָ֭זוֹן in Proverbs: 29:18 meaning “revelation.” Habakkuk 2 is typically quoted when we are in need of a vision from the Lord. It is often said that we need to wait upon him, enter into prayer, and lean into his heart for further revelation. When that revelation comes, we write out the plans, strategies, and blueprints that he gives us through prophetic vision. What we fail to understand is that while the end vision may remain the same, the plans and strategies will continually change.
Often times people come into delay and frustration because they are trying to use last season’s plans in this new season. It will NOT work. Just as there is a clashing of old and new wineskins in the corporate church, you can clash with old and new wineskins within yourself. Stop trying to do things the way you thought they should be done and how previous instructions told you to operate. You must have NEW revelation (vision) for this NEW era that we have entered into. Stop being married to plans and strategies! Maybe the “new” course for you is actually God’s plan all along.
Stop sitting. Stop waiting. Stop dreaming without toiling. You will miss what God is doing and never see the full manifestation of God’s dream over your life if you sit when he is saying “GO.” Stop thinking you know how your whole journey is suppose to look when you don’t. Change your mindset, change your current plans, and use the prophetic word as warfare to see the manifestation of that God given vision (1 Timothy 1:18).
