A Perfect Storm

A Perfect Storm

Typically, when you hear the phrase, “A perfect storm” it is used to describe an event that an evil person has planned behind the scenes to cause mass chaos and destruction in order to set him/herself up to rule over a people (many movies follow this type of villain plot). While it appears that lawlessness is becoming the norm in our world today (evil is called good and good is called evil), I believe that God is allowing things to become violently shaken so that he can create the perfect storm of glory and fire as his standard against the enemy.

I have been meditating on Isaiah 59:19 that traditionally reads, “So shall they fear The name of the Lord from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him” (NKJV).

However, when you read this passage in Hebrew, it could read as the above translation or as follows, “So they shall fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come like a rushing stream, which the wind of the Lord drives” (ESV).

The word traditionally translated as “adversary” or “enemy” is צָר (tsar) which can also mean “distress” or “narrow/tight” (which is where “rushing” or “flood” derives from). It is used for all three definitions regularly.

The traditional phrase “lift up a standard against” comes from נֹ֥סְסָה (noo-se-sah). This can also be translated as “drives,” “flee,” or “escape” with “flee” as the predominant definition.

If I were to personally translate this from the Hebrew verse in its context, which doesn't give a conclusive argument for either translation, I would translate it as:

“So they shall fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come like a rushing, flash flood, which the Spirit of the Lord drives.”

Although I am leaning this way in translation, I also hold it in tension with the traditional translation. Even if it is the enemy that comes in like a flood, YHWH will come in as a greater flood against the enemy as the Lord’s standard is being pushed and driven by the hand of the God himself.

So what does this have to do with my initial “perfect storm of God” statement? To be frank, things are getting so demonic in our society that it is actually creating the perfect time for God’s people to come in like a fiery flood of the glory of God to release a new standard to revolutionize our world.

For example, I personally think about how awful music is today compared to what the music standard use to be. Because of how terrible it has become, it is the perfect storm to step up and release a new sound from heaven that will turn the music industry upside down.

I think of how much fire is not in our church gatherings and how the entire system is crumbling because it is built on man and not God. Lawlessness, witchcraft, and demonic mixture is rampant in the church scene. Now is the time to birth a new system from heaven that is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ as the Chief Cornerstone and Christ as the ONLY head. Now is the time to step up as the new standard and burn in Consuming Fire to turn things around.

When your life is governed by the Spirit of the fear of the Lord, then he will come in like a flash flood and war in your defense as the standard of holiness, righteousness, and justice.

Get ready, we are seeing a Holy Ghost flash flood coming into the earth that will birth the greatest reformation and spiritual revolution in history. In the midst of the chaos around the world and the shaking of every earthly system, God is raising a standard against the enemy. This is the perfect storm of the Lord.
