This is the ministry of Jesus: "When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” (Matthew 9:12-13 NKJV)
The account of Jesus at the house of Matthew in Matthew 9:9-13 has always been one of my favorite passages in Scripture because it shows Jesus standing against the spirit of religion, going to where the broken people were, and just loving on them. He did not condemn them, yell at them, or condone their actions. He went to reveal the heart of the Father in order for them to come to salvation.
I always prayed for this to be the mark of my ministry in evangelizing. People are so religious and want to condemn everyone and everything. Of course the "tax collectors, prostitutes, and outcasts" are living in sin. They don't need condemnation, they need the Great Physician. Of course every person is different and the Holy Ghost will want us to say different things to different people. On one end, we do not need to scream sinners away from Jesus on the streets, and on the other end we should never condone their sin. Jesus moved in the power of the Spirit in prophecy, words of knowledge, and in the miraculous on the streets and in the temple. Why are we not doing the same? It is not revival unless the take the power and fire of God into the streets!
Some are so religious that they would not step foot in a bar to sit next to someone and love them. Others would not go to the homeless man and love him. Then there are Christians who condemn other Christians who would go into the world to save souls through the language of the culture such as an actor or musician on stage and sharing the Gospel where they are at. Folks, get off of your religion high horse and come down where the broken people are. That is the ministry of Jesus!
I know on FB I preach a lot of holiness and repentance. This is because most people on my FB are Christians, and it is a warning from the things I come across in ministry all of the time. We all need that reminder because hardly any ministries preach the true message of the cross, repentence, holiness, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with fire. Can you remember the last time you heard a message on these things, let alone ministries moving in them? No one can have salvation without repenting of their sins. Everything I preach is to myself first. However, the way that I preach in the church building and on the street is different.
On the street I pray for people, share the Gospel, and expect the Holy Ghost to show up just as Jesus did through miracles, healings, and power regardless if they are saved or not. What I do on the street is what Todd White does in the Holy Ghost movie. What I do in the church is the same, but I usually preach with fire, love, correction, and repentance depending upon what the Holy Ghost wants. Usually I am somewhere between a David Wilkerson, Johnathan Edwards, Damon Thompson, Leonard Ravenhill, John Wesley, and Steve Hill (of course I am myself though) to wake up the dead church because the church is asleep and many live in compromise. I believe the church building contains about the same amount of unsaved people as outside of the church walls. We are desperate for the true fires of revival and awakening in this land.
With all of that said, it all boils down to this: Be Jesus to the world. Crucify your flesh and always yield to the Spirit of God. Obedience releases blessings, miracles, and will produce a harvest of souls.
