Daniel Bodkin's mission is to turn the hearts of the sons and daughters of this generation to the Heavenly Father.

Water or Wine? Religion or Jesus?

The Lord has been burning a message in me about how the enemy wants to keep us watered down and spiritually complacent while the Lord wants us to be radically transformed into vessels of power. This message comes from Jesus’ first miracle where He turns water into wine at the wedding in Cana.

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”4 “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come. 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”They did so, 9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” 11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
— John 2:1-11

It is so easy to live a life that we think is full of something but it is only an illusion or distraction that the enemy blinds us with. We can believe in many great things but lack them in our own life. We can believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit, revival/awakening, but have a lukewarm life. We can go to a Spirit-filled church and support ministries like the Ramp, Damon Thompson, Perry Stone and many others, but still be spiritually lukewarm within ourselves. You can even agree with the things I am writing now, but still be spiritually lukewarm. Your spiritual life is not necessarily measured by you just agreeing with these beliefs, but it measured by you having a PRAYER life, a WORD reading life, and a WORSHIP lifestyle. What are you meditating on? What are you filling your time with? Hopeless things of the world or eternal things birthed by the Spirit of God? Your spiritual life is measured by your pursuit in God and what you WASTE your time on with distractions that the enemy puts there.

Religion is like filling a vessel full of water. It fills you, but it fills you with false promises of hope. There is no power in water. Being a vessel filled with water is a vessel that has been DECIEVED by the enemy. You can go to church service after church service, and believe in everything listed above but still be an ordinary vessel filled with WATER! A vessel of water is a vessel that has never had a true encounter with the living God Jesus Christ and been radically transformed by His Spirit. It is impossible to have an encounter with Jesus and remain a vessel of water! Jesus fills you with the best choice wine. He changes an ordinary vessel of water into a vessel of new wine, the best wine filled to the brim. On the 3rd day of the wedding He changed the water into wine. He is able to transform you into a vessel of new wine through the power of His resurrection that also happened on the 3rd day.

The Lord has called us to be the best of the best, but we cannot be the best if we remain as ordinary cisterns of water. We are chosen vessels carry the BEST wine. Do not allow yourselves to be filled with water, but be transformed by the resurrection power of the Lord Jesus. There is nothing more that the enemy wants than a Christian filled with watered down things than a Christian filled with the new wine of the Holy Ghost. Empty yourself of complacency and be filled with the new wine by a radical pursuit of God in your prayer life. Stop wasting hours in front of the television or video games and use more of that time pursuing the Lover of your soul. Stop filling yourself with empty worthless things that the enemy wants your flesh to enjoy and what the world says is normal to pursue.
