I began praying tonight for us and the Lord brought me back to Matthew 14 where He walked on the water at the fourth watch of the night to His disciples. I have written a sermon on this that I never preached yet, but the Lord showed me a couple different things. Sometimes you may feel completely out of place in the middle of nowhere, in a storm, in the dark, and not sure what to do. I know I have been there plenty of times. It is in these times that the enemy will use everything he can to make you quit. God showed me through this story that to really get to where He has called you to be, you have to step out of that boat to be completely stripped of your comfort zone in the flesh. Where he is trying to take you is the true comfort zone that your spiritual identity will flurish.
At least in the boat it was something that the disciples were familiar with being they were fishers. No, Jesus not only asks us to do the impossible and come out on the water with Him, but He asks us to get out of everything we are familiar with in the midst of a storm in the darkest hour. You are either going to have the faith to stand or the lack of faith and sink. The enemy wants you to quit more than anything because there is no telling how many souls are relying on you by you saying “yes” to God’s calling on your life. Jesus allows us to go through these times to strengthen us and process us, but the devil wants to use them to make us quit.
The thing is this: you cannot stay in the boat and be a true follower of faith. Jesus calls us to give up our lives and everything in it. You cannot have one foot in the boat and one foot wanting to walk on water. It’s all or nothing. It takes more than curiosity to step out of the boat; it takes full faith knowing that walking on water is the same as standing on the Rock of Ages! Once you are emptied out, only then can Jesus come fill you up in over flow. Peter stepped out (emptied himself) and JESUS stepped back into the boat (filled them). He is calling us out to do the miraculous, but it takes miraculous faith to operate in a miracle lifestyle. All through the night the enemy will weigh on you, attack you, and throw whatever kind of storm he can on you, BUT those that endure THROUGH the night their JOY COMES IN THE MORNING! The fourth watch of the night is going to be the toughest time of your night because you are the CLOSEST to your MIRACLE. It is in the fourth watch of the night that the enemy will make you want to QUIT THE MOST because he has come to kill, steal, and destroy your life, blessing, and every good thing the Lord wants to give you.
Jesus and the disciples crossed over to Gennesaret and had a healing revival. The devil wants to stop you from crossing over and operating in a revival anointing.Remember, it is the darkest before the dawn. The fourth watch of the night will birth a new dawning for you IF you step out of that boat with FULL faith knowing that walking on water is where the Lord is calling you. He is calling you to the miraculous. What may appear to be weird or a strange ghost, just remember that it very well could be the Holy Ghost. Listen to His voice calling you to step out of the boat. You will know His voice, and He will say, “I AM” in the middle of that raging sea in that darkest hour. “I AM” echoes through eternity. The Great I AM called this world into existence, called His leaders from Genesis to Revelation for the miraculous, and is calling you to the crucified, Spirit-filled life.
